Kirtan - the yoga of sound

When we chant, we remember who we truly are - sound becomes prayer, and prayer becomes peace

Kirtan - The yoga of sound

Kirtan is a sacred and joyful practice of sound, mantra, and music. Rooted in Bhakti Yoga - the yoga of devotion - Kirtan invites you to sing or listen to ancient Sanskrit chants that open the heart, quiet the mind, and reconnect you to a deep sense of presence.

Through the simple repetition of mantras, usually sung in a call-and-response style, we move beyond thinking into feeling. It’s not about performing or getting it “right” - it’s about feeling safe to express your voice and connect with something beyond words.

Benefits of Kirtan

Kirtan is highly beneficial for people who struggle with normal meditation, if they find it hard to switch off their mind, as the practice of singing can bypass the mind. Also, if you are someone struggling with self-expression and expressing your voice, kirtan is a highly beneficial practice.

Other benefits:

> regulates the nervous system and promotes deep relaxation

> opens the heart and supports emotional healing

> enhances meditation and mindfulness through vibration

> brings people together in shared resonance and connection

> invites joy, freedom, and inner stillness through sound

You don’t need to be musical - whether you sing, hum, or simply listen, the mantras do the work and your presence is enough.
